Engineering Intern Job Description:
McKinstry offers a summer internship program (B.L.U.E. – Build, Learn, Understand, Enrich) designed to provide hands-on experience, mentorship, and career guidance. The Seattle-based Engineering Intern role for Summer 2025 will involve:
• Responsibilities:
• Supporting project teams with research, documentation, and analysis across various engineering disciplines.
• Assisting in reviewing technical data, drawings, and specifications.
• Participating in field walks, team meetings, and design reviews.
• Tracking project progress, action items, and schedules.
• Contributing to sustainability initiatives, including factory electrification efforts.
• Collaborating with engineers, project managers, and other interns on meaningful assignments.
• Undertaking special projects aligned with current business needs.
• Qualifications:
• Must be pursuing or have a degree in Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related field.
• Sophomore student standing or higher is required.
• Availability for Summer 2025 (May/June start until August/September, depending on school schedule); part-time work after the summer is possible.
• Strong interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, and decarbonization.
• Curiosity and willingness to learn about building systems, construction, and the built environment.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with engineering software or modeling tools such as Revit or Rhino (a plus).
• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Compensation: $24/hour
