Job Description
About The Boring Company:
The Boring Company is a revolutionary transportation company aiming to revolutionize transportation. They value “ownership,” expecting all employees, including interns, to take ownership of their projects. Interns are given significant responsibility, almost equivalent to that of a regular employee. The work environment is fast-paced, with a focus on collaborative efforts towards a common goal.
Job Description:
The Boring Company is seeking Engineering Interns to contribute to various teams across multiple locations (Vegas and Bastrop). The roles offer significant responsibility and hands-on experience. Specific team descriptions and responsibilities include:
• Mechanical Engineering (Vegas & Bastrop): Design or support the design of various systems and sub-systems related to operations. This includes work on boring machine parts, support systems, support system equipment, tunnel segment production, passenger/construction vehicles, and tunnel infrastructure.
• Electrical Engineering (Vegas & Bastrop): Assist in the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical instrumentation in tunnels and on tunnel boring machines.
• Software Engineering (Vegas & Bastrop):
• Bastrop: Build automation and application software for next-generation tunnel boring machines (TBMs). Focus on designing and implementing tools to operate, analyze, and control TBMs.
• Vegas: Develop tools for collecting, analyzing, and displaying data for the Las Vegas Loop. This involves working with large datasets (gigabytes) generated from thousands of daily rides.
• Civil Engineering (Vegas & Bastrop): Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D to assist in the preparation of civil engineering details, design plans, reports, and meeting exhibits.
• Test Engineering (Bastrop Only): Design and conduct experiments to optimize the tunneling process (increase speed, reduce cost) and improve machine reliability.
• Integration Engineering (Bastrop Only): Review and provide feedback on the performance, manufacturability, and simplicity of designs. Determine critical project paths and drive development and implementation on critical items.
• Field Engineering Operations (Vegas Only): Track and report on daily activities in the tunnel and at the launch site. Assist with site surveying and determining site conditions for in-ground infrastructure.
