Engineering Intern | Flowserve
The Tone:
This is an Engineering Intern position at Flowserve, located in Lynchburg, VA, for a duration of May 2026 to July 2026. As an intern, you will contribute directly to engineering projects and daily operations, gaining valuable hands-on experience by assisting with technical design, analysis, testing, and documentation. The TL;DR

• Type: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
• Location: Lynchburg, VA
• Mission: To gain hands-on experience and contribute to engineering projects by assisting with technical design, analysis, testing, and documentation of flow control solutions.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
What You’ll Actually Do
• Design Support: Assist in CAD modeling, making precise design modifications, and conducting conceptual studies to contribute to new product development and improvement initiatives.
• Data Analysis: Analyze comprehensive test results, compile detailed reports, and identify critical data trends to provide insights that support informed engineering decisions.
• Prototype Testing & Validation: Support active prototype testing efforts, meticulously gather performance data from various trials, and assist in validating design improvements to ensure product efficacy and reliability.
• Documentation & Compliance: Research relevant industry standards, assess product and design compliance with established regulations, and contribute to creating essential product design documents, including drawings, bills of materials, and work instructions, along with documentation for audits.
• Production & Quality Coordination: Actively coordinate with the shop floor and engineering lab teams to assist in the assembly and testing of production orders, ensuring lead-time requirements are met, and provide direct engineering support to manufacturing and quality in processing orders efficiently.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Actively pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a closely related curriculum. Candidates must be in good academic standing. This is an Early Career internship position.
• Experience: No specific prior professional experience is explicitly required, as this role provides an opportunity for hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment.
• Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); good problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment; and comfort working within a shop environment.
