Job Overview:

Kimley-Horn is actively seeking motivated Engineering students to join our Memphis, Tennessee office as Interns. This role offers an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to real-world pre-construction civil engineering projects, gaining hands-on experience in design, planning, analysis, and permitting. Interns will work closely with experienced professionals, utilize industry-standard software, and play a vital role in bringing our clients’ visions for the built environment to life.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Software Application: Regularly utilize and master technical software programs to perform in-depth analysis, produce high-quality deliverables, and conduct rigorous quality control for our diverse client base.
  • Civil Engineering Design & Planning: Actively contribute to various phases of pre-construction civil engineering, including design, strategic planning, modifications, permitting processes, and comprehensive analysis for multiple projects of varying size and scope.
  • Complex Problem Solving & Collaboration: Engage in solving complex engineering challenges, provide valuable assistance to project managers, and foster cross-disciplinary collaboration to effectively realize our clients’ future built environment visions.
  • Regulatory & Standard Familiarization: Develop a strong understanding and familiarity with relevant federal, state, and local regulations, alongside Kimley-Horn’s internal practices and procedures, and our clients’ specific standards.
  • Software Proficiency Development: Gain hands-on experience and learn to proficiently use one or more discipline-specific software programs, which may include: AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, Excel, Microstation, VISSIM, Open Roads, Synchro, and/or GIS.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an ABET accredited engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters) from an accredited institution.
  • Majoring in one of the following engineering disciplines:

    • Civil Engineering
    • Environmental Engineering
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Biological Engineering
    • Biosystems Engineering
    • Chemical Engineering
    • Agricultural Engineering
    • Engineering Technology
