Huntington Ingalls Industries (HII), specifically its Mission Technologies division, is seeking an Engineering intern to join their Warfare Systems (WS) team. HII works within the intelligence and cyber operations communities, focusing on defending interests in cyberspace and anticipating emerging threats. Job Description:
HII-MT is looking for an Engineering intern with a solid understanding of electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or embedded systems. The intern will contribute to meaningful projects under the guidance of a mentor and senior leadership. This may involve the modeling, simulation, and/or analysis of electronic warfare systems, or RF/EO/IR sensors.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
• Actively contribute to meaningful engineering projects.
• Work closely with a mentor and senior leadership.
• Support the Engineering team with engineering functions in electronics, electrical, mechanical, civil, naval, and/or chemical specialties.
• Assist with troubleshooting issues and providing technical support.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Must be working towards a Bachelor’s degree with more than 60% of the required credits completed.
• Working towards degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
• Interest in assembling and disassembling hardware systems, equipment, and associated components.
• Knowledge of the basic principles of electrical engineering, computer engineering, mechanical engineering, or embedded systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
• Experience with data collection, signal processing, and circuit design.
• Experience with lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, power supplies, network analyzers, RF signal generators, power meters and soldering.
• Experience with troubleshooting circuits and analyzing schematics.
• Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and OrCAD.
• Experience with MATLAB and Xilinx Vivado/SDK/Vitis or Intel Quartus.
• Experience with mechanical work, including electrical boards.
• Experience with software defined radio, micro controllers, and interfacing.
• Knowledge of computer programming, design software, and system design.
• Ability to learn client-specific material quickly and present a professional demeanor in a client-facing role.
• Ability to create and lead technical presentations for management and decision makers.
• Experience with developing and executing test plan for RF-related testing.
