Job Description: Engineering Intern

This internship offers you the opportunity to gain valuable experience working alongside experienced engineers at CenterPoint Energy within one of the following divisions:

Transmission: Focuses on the high-voltage lines that carry electricity over long distances.
Distribution: Manages the network of lines and equipment that deliver electricity to homes and businesses.
Substation: Operates and maintains the facilities that transform electricity voltage levels.
Major Underground: Handles the planning and construction of large-scale underground infrastructure.
System Protection: Ensures the reliability and safety of the electrical grid.
Standards and Materials: Develops and maintains standards for materials and equipment used in electrical operations.
Distribution Planning: Plans for future electrical needs and expansion.
Realtime Operations: Monitors and controls the electrical grid in real-time.
Control Systems: Manages the systems that control and automate electrical equipment.

As an Engineering Intern, your responsibilities will include:

Assisting engineers with a variety of projects: You’ll provide support to engineers on projects across various divisions, gaining hands-on experience in different areas of electrical operations.
Updating Access databases and Excel spreadsheets concerning project status: You’ll play a role in maintaining project data, ensuring accurate tracking and communication.
Providing project completion data to appropriate stakeholders: You’ll contribute to project closure by providing essential information to relevant parties.

To qualify for this internship, you must meet the following criteria:

Education: Currently enrolled as a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university. You should be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
Experience: You must have a valid driver’s license.
