Engineering Intern Job Description

Principal Accountabilities:

• Gain a deep understanding of plant operations, processes, and equipment by working across various functional areas on projects like efficiency improvements, energy optimization, and reliability initiatives.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including safety and environmental, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and operations.
• Develop communication skills by working with diverse individuals across language abilities, educational levels, and experience.
• Learn about government regulations and how to implement them in line with company policies.
• Develop project management skills by managing people, processes, and inputs to deliver solutions.
• Participate in company orientation and ongoing performance assessments.

• The plant environment is fast-paced, hands-on, and team-oriented.

• Interns get the opportunity to work on various projects like designing, upgrading systems, and reviewing plant drawings.
• The position requires moderate physical exertion, including bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various conditions (heat, cold, grain dust).

Internship Details:

• Paid internship program of at least 16 weeks.
• Hourly pay for time worked.
• Interns are responsible for transportation.
• High-performing interns may be offered future internship, co-op, or full-time positions.

Job Location: Guelph, ON

Required Qualifications:

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering, graduating between December 2025 and August 2027.
• Legally entitled to work in Canada.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Able to complete a 4-month internship starting in May 2025.
• Highly resourceful and able to work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous plant, production, co-op, or internship experience.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to job-related tasks.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
