Position Summary:

Bridgestone Group’s mission is centered on “Serving Society with Superior Quality.” The Americas Technology Center in Akron, Ohio, is a state-of-the-art facility focused on industry-leading research and development for retail, wholesale, and original equipment markets. Beyond tires, Bridgestone manufactures diversified products including industrial rubber, chemical products, and sporting goods, sold in over 150 nations worldwide.

This internship offers an excellent learning environment for engineering and science students. Interns are considered an integral part of the staff, receiving technically challenging and educationally stimulating tasks. This position is designed to provide real, hands-on experience, allowing students to integrate classroom instruction with practical and valuable on-the-job work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successfully undertakes and completes simple or basic project/product development tasks, including:
    • Writing and/or verifying specifications.
    • Maintaining product/process documentation.
    • Data analysis/processing.
    • Testing processes, equipment, raw materials, and products.
    • Validating equipment and processes.
  • May assist in inventing/creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods.
  • Provides scientific programming support for lab automation workflows.
  • Develops digital tools to facilitate the application of data and fundamental mechanisms for material development.
  • Researches and applies knowledge of existing and emerging data science principles, theories, and techniques to build data-driven models for the engineering value chain and inform business decisions.
  • Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to the technical community.
  • Completes basic tasks on engineering documentation/review.
  • Identifies areas for improvement and suggests solutions.

Required Competencies:

  • Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Solid Technical Skills appropriate with academic level.
  • Demonstrates eagerness to work and learn.
  • Ability to adapt to various projects and collaborate with team members.
  • Proficiency in scientific/technical programming, including languages like Python, R, SQL, MATLAB, and Java.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Undergraduate science or engineering degree program enrollment.
