Engineer Intern – Summer 2025
Location: Ada, OK
Duration: 10-week paid internship, starting May 27th, 2025
About the Role:
This internship provides hands-on experience in cement production at Holcim’s Ada, OK plant. You will work closely with experienced engineers and professionals, gaining valuable insights into the industry.
Responsibilities:
• Process Optimization: Assist in optimizing cement production processes by adjusting parameters, troubleshooting issues, and enhancing efficiency.
• Process Monitoring: Monitor and control process variables like temperature, pressure, and flow rates using automated systems and manual techniques.
• Technical Learning: Gain a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, maintenance, and production operations at the plant.
• Sustainability Initiatives: Participate in sustainability and environmental impact assessments, contributing to projects focused on reducing the plant’s carbon footprint and improving resource efficiency.
• Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to cement production, quality control, and environmental performance.
• Quality Assurance: Support quality monitoring and maintenance through testing and inspecting raw materials and finished products.
• Safety Protocols: Assist in implementing and monitoring safety protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Skill Application: Utilize a wide range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, collaborating effectively to achieve team and company goals.
• Executive Presentation: Present your internship learnings and contributions to Holcim’s executive leadership team at the conclusion of the internship.
Qualifications:
• Education: Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
• Academic Performance: Strong academic record with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
• Flexibility: Willingness to work at various sites.
• Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
• Proactiveness: High energy and a proactive approach to tackling challenges.
• Teamwork: Ability to collaborate effectively across different levels of the organization.
• Hands-on Experience: Commitment to spending significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and understanding of business operations.
Work Environment:
• Onsite Role: This is an onsite role requiring a 40-hour work week, Monday through Friday, working an 8-hour shift each day.
• Cement Manufacturing Environment: Exposure to moving mechanical equipment, airborne particles, and various weather conditions.
• Transportation: Responsibility for personal transportation to and from the worksite.
• Travel: Possible travel for site tours, shadowing experiences, or internship events.
