Job Description:

This is an UNPAID internship opportunity through the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically designed for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The internship is within All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division.

Objective: The SkillBridge intern will train as an Engineer Field 2, reporting to a designated HII Supervisor (Ronald McBride).

Goal: To learn the maintenance actions and duties required of the Field Technician 2 position, which includes:

• Availability planning
• Troubleshooting
• Repair of Trainers for the Project Team
• Supporting the RADAR, Interior Communications, and Boatswain’s Mate schoolhouse personnel at Naval Station Great Lakes (GLKS).

The intern will be assigned special projects as needed.

Desired End State (3-month target):

The intern will further develop skills to provide independent technical support for the schoolhouses and project team, using a personal computer for analysis, documentation, and inventory control.

• Develop a strong understanding of:
• RADAR Part Task Trainers
• VIDVR Trainers
• Announcing Part Task Trainers
• Alarms Part Task Trainers
• Networking Part Task Trainers
• QM and QS Viscom Trainers
• MCFL Trainer
• Spare Parts tracking and inventory control

Assumptions/Restrictions:

• SkillBridge Intern must have a Secret Clearance.
• SkillBridge Intern will be available during business hours.

Program of Instruction:

Training Locations: Huntsville, AL

Contract Introduction
• Week 1: In processing, Introductions/office familiarization and familiarization with Roles and responsibilities of the HII Onsight Technical Representative.
• Week 2: Introduction to the various GLKS entities and Mission Technologies team as well as the applicable safety measures and training required for HII personnel.
GLKS PTT Maintenance
• Week 3: Intro to basic HII operations, maintenance, inventory control, and documentation for reporting.
• Week 4: Intro to RADAR Part Task Trainers
• Weeks 5 and 6: Introduction/familiarization to Announcing Part Task Trainers.
• Week 7: Introduction/familiarization to Alarms Part Task Trainers
• Week 8: Introduction/familiarization into Boatswain’s Mate VIDVR system
• Week 9: Introduction/familiarization to Boatswain’s Mate MCFL QM, and QC Viscom Systems
• Week 10: Introduction/familiarization to Networking Part Task Trainers
• Week 11: Demonstrate an understanding of all above listed systems and PTT’s
• Week 12: Engage with HII PM and team for performance and evaluation feedback.

Minimum Qualifications:

Active-Duty Military ONLY within the final 180 days of active-duty service. Applications accepted during the final 12 months of active-duty service.
• Education and Experience dependent on Program of Instruction.
• USN qualifications in operations/maintenance of non-Aegis Fire Control Radar.
