Job Description: Engineering Co-op
Cargill offers paid engineering co-op opportunities (at least 16 weeks) at their Georgetown, ON and Camrose, AB locations. The co-op program aims to provide real-world experience and prepare students for their careers.
Responsibilities:
• Gain a comprehensive understanding of plant processes, equipment, and operations by collaborating with various functional areas.
• Participate in projects focusing on efficiency improvements, working with contractors, energy-related process enhancements, reliability best practices, and plant process/equipment upgrades.
• Collaborate with diverse teams including safety and environmental personnel, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and operations staff.
• Effectively communicate with individuals across various language abilities, educational levels, and experience.
• Learn and apply government safety and environmental regulations in alignment with company policies.
• Manage people, processes, and input/output aspects of projects to implement solutions.
• Participate in company orientation and ongoing performance assessments.
Work Environment:
The plant environment is described as team-oriented, fast-paced, and hands-on. The work involves physical activity, including bending, stooping, lifting (up to 50+ lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently), and potential exposure to heat, cold, grain dust, etc. Students will be involved in diverse projects, from system design and upgrades to reviewing and updating plant drawings.

Qualifications:
• Required: Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, with graduation between December 2025 and August 2027. Legal authorization to work in Canada. Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals. Ability to complete an 8-month co-op (May 2025 start for Georgetown, January or May 2025 start for Camrose). High initiative and resourcefulness.
• Preferred: Previous plant, production, co-op, or intern experience. Ability to apply technical knowledge to job duties. Problem-solving and decision-making skills. Excellent communication skills. Demonstrated leadership skills.
