Job Description: Engineering Co-op

Cargill offers engineering co-op opportunities to students pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, with graduation between December 2025 and August 2027. The co-op program is designed to provide real-world experience and prepare students for their careers.

Job Responsibilities:

• Gain a comprehensive understanding of plant operations, processes, and equipment by collaborating with various functional areas on projects such as: efficiency improvements, contractor collaboration, energy-related process enhancements, reliability principles implementation, and plant process/equipment upgrades.
• Work with diverse cross-functional teams (safety & environmental, maintenance, engineering, contractors, and operations).
• Communicate effectively with individuals having varying language abilities, educational backgrounds, and experience levels.
• Learn and apply government safety and environmental regulations aligned with company policies.
• Manage personnel, processes, and inputs/outputs to effectively implement solutions.
• Participate in company orientation and ongoing performance assessments.

Work Environment:

The work environment is described as team-oriented, fast-paced, and hands-on. Cargill emphasizes employee engagement, inclusion, and innovation. Students will apply their skills to various projects, including system design/upgrades and plant drawing reviews/updates. The job requires physical activity (bending, stooping, lifting up to 50+ lbs occasionally, 10-25 lbs frequently), and potential exposure to heat, cold, grain dust, etc.

Program Features:

Paid Co-op: Paid hourly for at least 16 weeks. Students are responsible for their transportation.

Required Qualifications:

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering, graduating between December 2025 and August 2027.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
• Ability to complete an 8-month co-op (May 2025 start for Georgetown; January or May 2025 start for Camrose).
• High initiative and resourcefulness.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Prior plant, production, co-op, or internship experience.
• Ability to apply technical knowledge to job duties.
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
