Job Description: Engineer

Cargill offers entry-level Engineer positions located in various production facilities across the United States. The role is designed to provide exposure to both the technical and people management aspects of engineering, allowing for diverse career paths. The initial role will be either in Operations Leadership or Maintenance & Reliability Engineering.

Responsibilities: Engineers will work in a fast-paced production environment, leading teams (production employees, project teams, contractors, or technical operations teams) and executing critical initiatives and projects. Specific responsibilities vary based on the chosen area and may include:

Production Management Engineers: Leading people, processes, and input/output in a plant environment; direct supervision of operators and production activities; participation in daily production management meetings; ensuring compliance with government regulations (environmental, health, safety, maintenance, housekeeping); team development (hiring, scheduling, motivation, employee relations); process optimization; equipment and process reliability; leading capital projects.

Environmental Engineers: Leading people, processes, and assets related to facility systems (refrigeration, steam, water, compressed air); operating a wastewater treatment plant; leading environmental compliance and regulatory permitting programs; daily supervision of operators and technicians; short and long-term planning (maintenance, capital projects, process improvement).

Process/Project Engineers: Business case development; vendor selection; budget management; project management for major projects (process optimization, safety, quality, infrastructure, energy use); involvement in innovation processes, idea generation, and reliability-centered design; implementing technical initiatives from global groups and R&D.

Maintenance and Reliability Engineers: Leading people, processes, and assets to optimize uptime and repair costs; daily supervision of skilled tradespeople; planned and unplanned work activities; short and long-term planning (maintenance, capital projects, process improvement); utilizing tools like RCM, FMEA, RCA, 5S, and 5-Why.

Business Units: Engineer roles are available across various Cargill business units including: Agricultural Supply Chain North America, Cocoa and Chocolate, Deicing Technology, Global Edible Oil Solutions North America, Industrial Specialties, Protein, Salt, Starches and Sweeteners, and Texturizing Solutions.

Work Environment: The plant environment is described as team-oriented, fast-paced, and hands-on, emphasizing safety, employee engagement, inclusion, and innovation. It’s an industrial/processing environment requiring physical activity and potential exposure to various conditions (heat, cold, dust, etc.).
