AARP’s Integrated Communications and Marketing (ICM) Group oversees various departments including Membership, Content and Editorial, Customer Experience, External Relations, Brand Strategy, and Strategic Communications, managing AARP’s reputation and member engagement across various communication channels.
Job Description:
The Digital CRM team within AARP’s ICM Group is seeking a marketing/marketing communications student intern to assist with their email newsletter program. This paid internship (Summer 2025 – December 2025, with potential extension) involves working on multiple email newsletters reaching millions weekly.
Responsibilities:
• Newsletter Production: Assisting with all aspects of newsletter creation using a content management system (CMS) and artificial intelligence (AI) tools. This includes article selection, copywriting, image selection, and data analysis.
• Email Campaigns: Supporting ad-hoc email campaigns, attending planning meetings, reviewing creative materials, etc.
• Reporting and Analysis: Maintaining internal reports, providing insights, and offering recommendations to the team based on data analysis.
• List Growth: Assisting with strategies to grow newsletter subscriber lists through organic (non-paid) methods.
• Other Projects: Contributing to other tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
• Currently pursuing a degree in marketing (digital marketing preferred) at an accredited college/university. Must be a rising junior, senior, graduate student, or post-doctoral student (or a recent graduate enrolled in continuing education).
• Prior experience managing projects (work or academic).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (various AARP teams).
• Experience creating marketing plans or relevant coursework.
• Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Photoshop is a plus. No coding skills are required.
The internship is a hybrid model with remote workdays on Mondays and Fridays (except for essential functions). Remote work is limited to the US and its territories. Compensation varies based on student status ($18/hour for undergraduates, $21/hour for graduate students, $28/hour for Ph.D. candidates). Interns are non-exempt and not eligible for employee benefits.
