What You’ll Actually Do
• Instruct: Provide personalized, 1-on-1 online math instruction to elementary school students.
• Explain: Clearly explain core elementary math concepts and strategies, building strong arithmetic foundations.
• Deconstruct: Break down multi-digit operations, fraction concepts, and word problems using visual models and manipulatives.
• Adapt: Modify teaching approaches and materials to meet individual student learning needs, styles, and developmental readiness levels.
• Connect: Guide students to connect math concepts to everyday contexts like cooking, shopping, and telling time.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Deep knowledge of elementary math concepts, including number sense, place value, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, basic fractions and decimals, measurement, time, money, geometry shapes, patterns, and introductory data interpretation.
• Experience: Demonstrated ability to explain counting strategies, regrouping, fact fluency, and to guide students through skip counting, place value understanding, basic geometric reasoning, and measurement conversions. Familiarity with elementary math standards for grades one through five and common student challenges.
• Skills: Strong communication skills and an engaging teaching style, ability to identify concepts students commonly struggle with, explain material using multiple approaches, and adapt instruction to meet individual learning needs and styles.
