Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Electrical Engineering Intern to join our Research & Development team. This is an exciting opportunity for an aspiring engineer to gain hands-on experience in process automation, controls, and product inspection technologies within a dynamic R&D environment.
The Intern will report directly to an R&D Manager and will have the valuable opportunity to collaborate closely with both experienced Electrical Engineers and Technicians on staff, fostering a collaborative learning and development experience.
Key Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions:
- Develop Inspection Methodologies: Set up and establish precise criteria for product inspection on a lab scale, laying the groundwork for quality assessment.
- Scale-Up & Feasibility: Actively participate in demonstrating the feasibility of developed inspection methods for real-world application on manufacturing scale products.
- Statistical Analysis & Specification Development: Employ a data-driven approach to develop statistically valid criteria for accurately characterizing the overall uniformity of products. This includes contributing to the development of robust customer specifications.
- Programming & Integration: Engage in the development and deployment of programming and code specifically for advanced machine vision systems, comprehensive data analysis, and seamless equipment integration.
- Ethical Conduct: Read, understand, and commit to conducting all business activities in strict accordance with Albany International’s Business Ethics Policy, ensuring all company dealings are conducted ethically, fairly, honestly, and with integrity.
Requirements:
- Education: Currently working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
- Academic Standing: Junior or Senior standing is preferred, demonstrating a solid foundation in core engineering principles.
- Skills & Interests:
- Strong interest in process automation, control systems, and machine vision.
- Basic understanding or eagerness to learn about statistical analysis and its application in quality control.
- Proficiency or desire to learn programming/coding relevant to automation and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
