About the Team and Company

The PICO system prototyping team is at the forefront of incubating the next generation of XR products, including MR headsets, AR glasses, and other smart wearables, aligning with ByteDance group’s vision. This team independently conceptualizes product vision, roadmaps, definitions, and architectures, along with initial designs spanning experience, structural, electrical, firmware, and software aspects.

Pico, founded in April 2015, is a leading VR company dedicated to developing immersive and interactive VR experiences globally. Pico also offers tailored solutions for enterprise clients in sectors like education and healthcare.

We are seeking talented individuals to join us for an internship in 2026. Responsibilities

As an Electrical Engineering Intern, you will play a crucial role in our prototyping efforts, with responsibilities including:

  • Design & Drafting: Assisting with schematic capture, PCB layouts, and updating existing electrical drawings using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Allegro).
  • Prototyping: Assisting in the assembly and “bring-up” of prototype hardware, often involving soldering components or building wire harnesses.
  • Research: Conducting trade studies on components (e.g., comparing microcontrollers or sensors) to identify the most cost-effective or high-performance options for projects.
  • Documentation: Managing Bills of Materials (BOMs), writing test reports, and ensuring all design modifications are meticulously recorded.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with ECAD tools (e.g., Cadence Allegro).
  • Ability to commit to working for 12 weeks during Summer 2026.
  • 1+ years of experience in Schematic Design, Layout, and System integration.
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with system design and the PCB manufacturing process.
  • Familiarity with Power Distribution Network and Signal Integrity concepts.
  • Practical experience with soldering, breadboarding, and using common lab equipment.

Job Information & Compensation

Compensation Description (Hourly) – Campus Intern:

The hourly rate for this position is $35-$35.

Benefits:

Benefits may vary based on employment nature and country of work location. Interns receive:

  • Day one access to health insurance, life insurance, and wellbeing benefits.
  • 10 paid holidays per year.
  • Paid sick time (56 hours if hired in the first half of the year, 40 if hired in the second half of the year).
  • Interns not working 100% remote may also be eligible for a housing allowance.
