About the Role
We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineering Intern, Advanced Development to help us design and build prototypes for the next generation of products. Working as part of our Advanced Development team, you will bring technical substance and inspiration to our creative efforts, ensuring that imaginative but credible solutions populate our ambitious product roadmap. We thrive on designing great products that delight our customers and know that it takes unusual individuals to make it happen.
Key Responsibilities & Exciting Things You’ll Get To Do
- Support the development of novel concepts and technologies for our next generation of products.
- Help communicate ideas quickly and effectively using a combination of ECAD layout, simulation, and breadboard circuits to evaluate potential solutions.
- Build test rigs in the lab while supporting the execution of verification and validation test plans.
- Inject energy, enthusiasm, and creativity into everything you touch.
- Be naturally curious and relentlessly driven to find better solutions to everyday problems.
- Demonstrate integrity and courage in the way you work, breaking the mold isn’t easy.
- Evaluate and improve designs for cost effectiveness, manufacturing improvements, increased quality, and value.
- Identify new ideas, products, and/or features that improve customer satisfaction, reduce costs, and keep our product line at the forefront of our industry.
Key Attributes & Skills
- Education: Current student in their third year or beyond of a bachelor’s program, or currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral program. The ideal candidate will have completed 2+ years in an Electrical Engineering degree program.
- Location: Must be able to come into the office 5 days per week.
- Communication: A natural and effective communicator capable of reducing abstract concepts to reality.
- Visualization: Able to quickly generate visual and physical definitions of new products that convey key attributes of function and layout.
- Fundamentals: A thorough understanding of basic physical principles.
- Innovation: Creativity and technical knowledge are crucial in this position.
- Technical Experience (one or more of the following):
- Motor control
- Sensors
- Embedded microcontrollers (including Arduino)
- Battery management
- Small signal amplifier circuits
- Switching power supplies
- Software: Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point.
- Prototyping: Experience with general prototyping is a plus.
- Software/Firmware: Some software/firmware experience is a plus.
- Programming: Working knowledge of C/C++ with microcontrollers is a plus.

Salary and Other Compensation
The hourly salary range for this position is $17—$44 USD. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
