Job Description: EHS Intern

Job Title: EHS Intern
Location: Onsite Position at Komatsu’s South Harbor location in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA (53204-2941)

Job Overview:
The EHS Intern will play a crucial support role within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department. This position aims to add direct value to the business by assisting the EHS team in various environmental, sustainability, and safety projects.

Start Date and Duration:
The target start date for this internship is Fall 2025. There is a potential for the role to be extended into the summer of 2026. The intern will work full-time hours during the summer and flexible part-time hours during the academic year.

Key Job Responsibilities:
The EHS Intern’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Conducting safety inspections and audits.
• Preparing and delivering safety training.
• Investigating incidents and developing preventive measures.
• Researching and analyzing EHS trends and best practices.
• Maintaining EHS records and tracking metrics.
• Participating in EHS meetings and decision-making processes.
• Coordinating emergency response plans.
• Supporting various EHS initiatives and projects.
• Promoting a safe and environmental culture within the workplace.
• Reviewing and updating EHS policies.
• Performing additional tasks as required to support the EHS department.

Qualifications/Requirements:
Candidates for this role must meet the following criteria:
• Be currently pursuing a bachelor’s or advanced degree in occupational health and safety, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, or similar programs from an accredited college or university.
• Be a Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or master’s level student in good academic standing.
• Demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Possess excellent organization and personal time management skills, with the capacity to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
• Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Have effective problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:
While not required, the following qualifications are preferred:
• Leadership experience in organizing or working with groups.
• Prior project work experience.
• Relevant internship or work experience in a similar field.
• Ability to articulate and summarize analytical data for leadership.
