Job Description: Education Public Relations Intern

The Education Public Relations Intern role at FINN Partners offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of education, policy, philanthropy, and business.

Internship Program Details:
Term: Full-time internship for Fall 2025.
Duration: A 12-week program starting in late August and concluding in mid-December.
Schedule: Interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday through Friday, between 8:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. The hours offer flexibility to accommodate academic course schedules.
Location: The internship provides a flexible working environment, allowing for a fully remote setup or a hybrid approach within FINN Partners’ U.S. offices.
Compensation: This is a paid internship and can be used to earn course credit towards necessary undergraduate requirements.

Key Contributions/Activities Interns Will Be Involved In:
• Providing support to organizations operating at the nexus of education, policy, philanthropy, and business.
• Gaining experience in account management.
• Developing and producing strong written content.
• Engaging with media outlets, including developing and pitching story ideas to secure client coverage.
• Supporting social media efforts, including content development, community engagement, and campaign management.
• Curating media reports and analyses, with a focus on in-depth analysis of key client-related issues.

Specific Key Responsibilities Include:
• Monitoring and compiling daily or weekly media clips for the team and clients.
• Conducting research on key client issues, developing landscape analyses, media insights, and identifying thought leadership opportunities.
• Drafting various written materials such as press releases, advisories, contributed articles, and briefing documents.
• Assisting with media relations, which includes creating media lists, drafting pitches, and preparing interview materials.
• Supporting monthly client reporting, covering activities, Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), and other scope aspects.
• Participating in account management activities like maintaining project trackers, assembling agendas, noting action items, and learning about budget and forecasts.
• Providing general account support, which may involve participating in internal and client calls and handling other assigned tasks.
• Assisting in the creation of new business proposals when requested.

Required Skills and Attributes:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides.
Prior experience with Meltwater, Muck Rack, or Canva is a plus.
Proficiency in AP style and experience writing for social media.
Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to write for a variety of platforms, voices, and tones.
Deep knowledge of social media tools and platforms, including LinkedIn, X (formerly Twitter/Blue Sky), TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook.
• A keen interest in a career in public relations, journalism, public affairs, or communications and marketing.
Interest and basic knowledge of the U.S. education system, spanning early childhood, K-12, and higher education.
• The ability to maintain self-management on projects and tasks, particularly in remote working environments.
• Must be self-motivated, friendly, and eager to learn.
