Job Description

This is an unpaid Editorial Internship with A.E. Williams Editorial firm, located in Atlanta, GA.

Internship Period: August 13, 2025, to November 19, 2025.
Commute Requirement: Interns are required to commute to the office space once a month.
Work Environment: The role offers flexible hours and promises a fun work environment. Interns are expected to dress casually and tastefully when in the working spaces.

The Gist of the Role:
The Editorial Intern will assist with various day-to-day tasks, including emails, research, and content creation. The ideal candidate is a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Journalism, or a related field, though all individuals with a passion for the book publishing industry are encouraged to apply. The intern will support the Lead Editor, Junior Editors, and Administrative Director, learning and applying available knowledge within the firm.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist the Lead Editor, Junior Editors, and Administrative Director with regular tasks such as client calls, emails, invoicing, onboarding processes, and marketing activities.
• Attend coaching sessions led by the Lead Editor, focusing on the craft and business aspects of providing editorial services.
• Leverage all opportunities to further their education and professional development.

Required Qualifications:

• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Fluency in both written and spoken English.
• A strong interest in book editing.
• The ability to follow clear directions.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and its functionalities.
• Proficiency at working independently without constant supervision.
• Possession of a well-functioning laptop computer with Wi-Fi access is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

• An academic background in writing, publishing, or a related field.
• A love for books across various genres.
• A strong interest in the book publishing industry.
• A desire to pursue a career in book editing, whether freelance or in-house.
• A vast understanding of the Chicago Manual of Style.
