Job Description
A.E. Williams Editorial firm is seeking an Editorial Intern from August 13, 2025 to November 19, 2025. This is an unpaid internship located in Atlanta, GA, requiring a monthly commute to the office. The Editorial Intern will assist with various day-to-day tasks including: emails, research, and content creation.
The ideal candidate is a recent graduate with a bachelor’s degree in English, Writing, Journalism, or other related degree. However, all with a passion for the book publishing industry are encouraged to apply.
The Lead Editor will ensure that the Editorial Intern completes all tasks as part of the internship programming. The Editorial Intern will learn about the editorial business, the publishing industry, and how to conduct oneself in a professional way.
Responsibilities:
• Assist the Lead Editor, Junior Editors, and Administrative Director in various tasks that are completed regularly: client calls, emails, invoicing, onboarding, and marketing.
• Attend coaching sessions with the Lead Editor on the craft and business of providing editorial services.
• Dress casually and tastefully when in the working spaces.
• Leverage all opportunities to further education.
Required Qualifications:
• Eligibility to work in the United States.
• Fluency in writing and speaking the English language.
• Strong interest in book editing.
• Ability to follow clear direction.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and its functions.
• Proficiency at working independently without supervision.
• The Editorial Intern must have a well-functioning laptop computer with ability to access Wi-Fi.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Academic background in writing, publishing, or related field.
• Love for books in one or many genres.
• Interest in the book publishing industry.
• Desire for a career in editing books whether freelance or in-house.
• Vast understanding of the Chicago Manual of Style.
