Job Description: Economics, Disputes & Investigations (EDI) Internship
This internship, located in College Station, TX, runs from January to May 2025. BRG’s EDI community leverages diverse backgrounds (economists, statisticians, accountants, financial professionals) to analyze complex business, legal, and regulatory issues.
Responsibilities: The internship blends quantitative and qualitative tasks, tailored to individual skills and project needs. Responsibilities include:
• Quantitative Aspects: Data collection from various sources; database management and analysis (using SQL, R, Stata, SAS, Python, or Snowflake); combining programming, modeling, and statistical analysis with economic intuition; analyzing diverse subjects.
• Qualitative Aspects: Researching academic literature, legal documents, and industry resources; summarizing and communicating research findings; producing well-reasoned analysis for various cases and projects.
• General Responsibilities: Reviewing data and qualitative materials; performing detailed research; teamwork and meeting deadlines; applying critical thinking; communicating findings to senior staff, experts, and clients; developing novel solutions; auditing work product; strong communication skills; contributing to client deliverables and reports; managing electronic databases and files.
Qualifications:
• Progression towards a master’s or bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics, data science, statistics, accounting, finance, healthcare administration, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.5 GPA.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
• 0-2 years of experience (including internships).
• Strong analytical abilities and motivation.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Desirable (but not required): Experience with relational database programs (e.g., MS SQL Server, SAS, MS Access, Tableau, Alteryx, MySQL, Oracle, Snowflake, Teradata) and statistical analysis programs (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, Python, SPSS). A willingness to learn these tools is highly valued.
