Early-Career Spacecraft Systems Engineer

Job Summary
As an Early-Career Spacecraft Systems Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the technical execution of programs and developing spacecraft systems for a diverse range of missions and customers. Your responsibilities will span the entire space vehicle system lifecycle, including:
- Creating, monitoring, and guiding requirements definition
- Spacecraft design
- Procurement and fabrication
- Integration and test
- Verification and validation of the overall space vehicle system
You will interact with subsystem and unit engineers, manufacturing and test personnel, and program management. This role emphasizes a Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to manage the technical elements of the space vehicle system. At Millennium, our spacecraft systems engineers focus on creating spacecraft, not just paperwork!
Position Responsibilities
- Own model-based systems engineering development for satellite programs.
- Support all aspects of spacecraft systems engineering, including:
- Performing preliminary concept development
- Conducting trade studies
- CONOPS definition
- Requirements decomposition and allocation
- Interface requirements definition
- Requirements verification and validation
- Support to integration and test operations
- Anomaly resolution
- Risk management
- Schedule execution
- Apply an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify a lifecycle-balanced solution for space systems.
- Understand spacecraft subsystem functions and interfaces. Develop integrated spacecraft system designs and solutions.
- Coordinate and communicate with subsystem engineering teams to ensure system execution.
- Participate in software integration and test activities to ensure mission functionality prior to deployment into operations.
- Perform tasks to analyze technical data, verify, and sustain specific systems configurations in accordance with defined constraints and operational requirements.
- Perform various analyses to optimize the spacecraft system and/or system architecture.
- Resolve cross-functional technical issues.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience)
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering or other relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year’s directly relevant aerospace industry experience, preferably with spacecraft systems.
- MBSE: Demonstrated experience with MBSE software and principles (Cameo, SysML, UML, etc.).
- Leadership: Demonstrated leadership and communications skills.
- Space Systems Engineering: Demonstrated experience with space systems engineering principles and techniques.
- Budgeting: Demonstrated familiarity with power, mass, and other system budgets.
- Requirements: Demonstrated familiarity with requirements analysis and flow-down.
- Verification & Validation: Demonstrated familiarity with design verification and validation processes.
- Configuration Management: Demonstrated familiarity with configuration management.
- Integration & Test: Demonstrated familiarity with satellite-level integration and test processes.
- In-Orbit Operations: Demonstrated familiarity with satellite in-orbit operations.
- Security Clearance Eligibility: This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
- Education: Master’s degree in aerospace or other relevant engineering or science discipline.
- Experience: Greater than 3 years’ professional experience in space systems engineering.
- Rapid Development: Direct experience with one or more rapid spacecraft development programs and missions.
- Active Security Clearance: An Active TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance.

Summary Pay Range
- Level 2: $87,550 – $128,750
- Level 3: $104,550 – $153,750
Work Location & Schedule
- This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work on-site at one of the listed location options.
- Shift: Shift 1 (United States of America)
