Job Description: Early-Career Environmental Data Analyst/Data Manager
This position is based in Tampa, Jacksonville, Orlando, or Pensacola, FL, and is part of Geosyntec’s information management practice. The successful candidate will work alongside consulting scientists and engineers to address client data management needs.
Responsibilities:
• Data Management & Visualization: Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver integrated data management and visualization solutions for environmental engineering and geoscience projects. This includes designing, developing, and managing project-specific relational database applications using desktop and enterprise database software.
• Data Processing & Analysis: Compile, process, verify, analyze, visualize, and report on large and diverse datasets from various sources (streaming and static). Build interactive dashboards and reports.
• Automation: Automate processes using Python and other scripting languages (VBA, Microsoft PowerAutomate, etc.).
• EQuIS & Database Management: Utilize the EQuIS platform and Microsoft SQL Server to manage project data, including ETL (extraction, transformation, loading) processes. This also involves customizing EQuIS reports and data loaders, and building web dashboards with EQuIS Enterprise.
• GIS: Employ desktop and enterprise GIS software (ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online, and open-source alternatives) to manage spatial data.
• Fieldwork: Participate in fieldwork, including soil, surface water, and groundwater sampling; remediation treatment system operation and maintenance; and using mobile data collection platforms (EQuIS Collect, Survey123, Collector for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Field Maps, and GPS equipment).
Qualifications:
• Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in geology, environmental, civil, or chemical engineering, geosciences, GIS, or geography.
• Programming skills in at least one language (Python, R, SQL, .NET, Java/JavaScript, or VBA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fieldwork and overnight travel.
• Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
• Preferred:
• Advanced degree in a relevant field.
• Related work experience.
• Experience in environmental field sampling, chemistry, data analysis, and/or visualization.
• Experience with EQuIS and other environmental data management systems.
• Experience with database technology (Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Data Management Studio).
• Knowledge of laboratory analytical data verification and validation.
• Experience with enterprise database platforms and/or GIS software (ArcGIS).
• Knowledge of data dashboard and BI tool development.
• Academic training in environmentally-related disciplines.
