Job Description: Early Career Data Scientist

WSP is seeking an Early Career Data Scientist to support its Southwest Mountain District, based in Lakewood, CO (remote options available). This role provides technical assistance within the Water and Environmental industries.

Responsibilities:

Data Preparation and Visualization: Prepare data visualizations (tables, charts, reports, models, maps, illustrations) to interpret and present complex data and analyses. Perform quality assurance during data ingestion from public outreach efforts.
Technology Exploration and Expansion: Collaborate with WSP’s GIS staff to explore and expand existing data visualization technologies (dashboards, web applications) to create future-ready solutions for clients.
Web-Based Solution Design: Design and support web-based solutions using Esri (ArcGIS Online) and Microsoft products (Power Apps, Power BI).
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with various WSP teams to execute data analysis and visualizations for reports across different project types and sizes. Interact professionally with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients.
Ethical Conduct: Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company resources and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree or Certificate in Data Science.
• 0-1 years of relevant post-education experience.
• Strong technical computation and calculation abilities.
• Familiarity with relational database structures and management.
• Understanding of SQL and Python for data querying and workflow automation.
• Motivation to learn and use new data visualization technologies.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (technical and non-technical audiences).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules to meet project demands.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Proven commitment to workplace safety and adherence to WSP’s policies.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Esri ArcGIS environments.
• Experience with Power BI for data visualizations.
• Experience with Power Apps or other workflow automation software.

Compensation: (Colorado Only) $63,600 – $93,300 (Note: This range is subject to change based on experience and other factors).
