The Opportunity: DoD SkillBridge Internships

Mott MacDonald is actively seeking interns with diverse skill sets to join our team through the Department of Defense SkillBridge program. This is a unique opportunity for transitioning service members to build a rewarding civilian career at one of the largest employee-owned engineering consultancies.

We have openings for both Engineers and Project Managers, available in multiple positions nationwide.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Experience in engineering design, program management, construction, or related fields is highly preferred.
  • Eagerness to gain hands-on experience while working alongside industry experts.

This is a dynamic role focused on supporting the successful delivery and management of major programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect, prepare, and maintain engineering data (e.g., tests, drawings).
  • Assist in preparing design documents and supporting calculations.
  • Perform assignments using standard practices, techniques, and procedures.
  • Support engineering activities under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Produce accurate technical reports, documentation, calculations, and sketches.
  • Continuously develop technical and professional skills.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Eligibility and Qualifications:

  • Eligibility for the Department of Defense SkillBridge program is mandatory.
  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, project management, or related fields, OR be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree in these fields.
  • Experience: Prior experience and knowledge in engineering, project management, construction, or related fields is highly preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong project management, leadership, and technical skills.
    • Excellent judgment, organizational ability, and problem-solving skills.
    • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage complex issues.
    • Skilled in preparing and interpreting detailed reports and evaluating solutions.

Compensation & Benefits:

Participants in this program will continue to receive their compensation and benefits through the Department of Defense.
