Job Description: DoD SkillBridge Engineering Planning Analyst Internship

This is an UNPAID internship opportunity through the DoD SkillBridge Program, specifically for transitioning active-duty US military personnel. The internship is designed to provide real-world experience in the workforce during the final 180 days of active-duty service, with the potential for transition to a full-time position with HII-Mission Technologies (HII-MT).

Objective: The intern will train as an Engineering Planning Analyst within HII-Mission Technologies, under the supervision of a designated HII Supervisor.
Goal: To learn the maintenance actions and duties required to provide availability planning and execution support to the Project Team and Ship’s Force personnel. Special projects will be assigned as needed.
Desired End State (3-month target):
• Further develop skills needed to provide availability support for Ship’s Force and the FDNF Puget Sound Naval Shipyard project team.
• Use personal computer in performance of analyses and development of documentation/reports.
• Develop a good understanding of:
• COMNAVAIRFOR IST 4700.2, Ship’s Force Resource Manual (SFRM).
• Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFFM).
• integrated Project Teams for Aircraft Carrier Maintenance (IPT4ACM)
• HII-MT to benefit from the intern’s naval propulsion engineering knowledge specific to Naval Vessels and considers the SkillBridge internship an overall positive experience.

Training Location: US Naval Base, Bremerton, WA
Program of Instruction (Training Plan):

Contract Introduction (Weeks 1-2):
• In-processing and office familiarization.
• Introduction to the various FDNF Project Team entities, Mission Technologies team, and applicable safety measures for HII personnel.
CVN DPIA Maintenance (Weeks 3-12):
• Introduction to basic departmental operations, maintenance, and documentation for reporting.
• Issuance of CAST personal qualification Standard.
• Introduction to the Advanced Industrial Management System (AIM).
• Introduction to Schedule Development and Work Integration.
• Introduction to General knowledge Topics such as: Kitting, Shipyard Organization and location of key services, Advance Planning Team, CWCT, JPL, WIM and ZM relationships.
• Introduction into the metrics/reports used by CAST for tacking Ship’s Force work.
• Commence attendance to all routine Planning/work status meetings.
• Commence review of all Ship’s Force Strategies for availability planning/execution highlighting possible revisions needed to support the upcoming change in hulls.
• Roles and responsibilities of CAST.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the “Must Do” items in the SFRM and the IPT4ACM as they relate to CAST
• Engage with HII PM and team for performance and evaluation feedback.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Active-Duty Military ONLY within final 180 days of active-duty service.
• Applications accepted if you are within 12 months of separation.
• Secret US DoD Security Clearance – current and active.
• Full US Navy qualifications in operations and maintenance of Naval Nuclear Propulsion Plants on board a CVN (aircraft carrier (nuclear propulsion)).

Preferred Requirements:
• Transitioning active-duty US Military Service Members currently assigned to a military installation/base at or near Bremerton, WA with the intent to remain in country for post-military service employment with a US DOD contracting or US Government organization.
• Transitioning US Navy Service Members with a Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience in CVN Maintenance operations & planning, or 8-9 of experience with a HS Diploma.
Physical Requirements: Physical Requirements will vary and is dependent on the Program of Instruction.
