Litigation Docket Clerk | Plona Partners

The Tone:
This is a full-time, hybrid role at Plona Partners, located in Midtown NY, with 2-3 days a week in the office. Plona Partners is a highly-regarded firm, recognized as a Top 5 Midsize Law Firm and an AmLaw100 Firm, specializing in litigation. This position is critical for ensuring the firm’s legal processes comply with intricate federal, state, and local court rules. The Docketing Clerk provides essential support by managing court filings, precisely calendaring important dates, and advising legal staff, directly contributing to the efficient and accurate execution of litigation matters for the firm.

What You’ll Actually Do
Guidance: Advise attorneys and staff on Federal, State, and local rules of procedure and practice, ensuring full compliance for all litigation matters.
Filings: Manage the comprehensive process of filing and serving papers, whether electronically or by other specified means, across various state and federal courts, including essential pleadings, motions, and discovery papers.
Calendaring: Execute precise docketing and calendaring functions, meticulously tracking Court filings, discovery deadlines, and all other pertinent papers by diligently utilizing the firm’s dedicated calendar tool.
Vendor Coordination: Facilitate and coordinate with external vendors to efficiently obtain necessary court files, arrange for process serving, and secure other vital litigation-related support services as required.
Inquiry Response: Respond promptly and accurately to written or verbal requests and inquiries from attorneys, paralegals, and secretaries concerning calendared events, court procedures, and modifications to compliance dates on the docket calendar.

The Must-Haves
Background: A strong understanding of litigation practice, coupled with comprehensive knowledge of Federal, State, and local rules of procedure and practice. This role requires familiarity with court procedures and the specific compliance dates relevant to legal proceedings.
Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing court filings, including electronic and manual service. Proven capability in performing detailed docketing and calendaring tasks, maintaining electronic databases like ECF logins, and responding to procedural inquiries from legal professionals.
Skills: Expertise in applying Federal, State, and local rules of procedure effectively. Proficiency in utilizing firm calendaring tools, managing ECF logins, and maintaining various form files and electronic databases crucial for litigation support.
