WWAARC is looking for Direct Support Interns for their Residential and Day Habilitation programs in Albany, NY. This is a Per-Diem Direct Support Professional position with a pay rate of $17.00 per hour.
Job Description:
The Direct Support Intern will work under the direct supervision of fully qualified staff and will have supervised and restricted access to the people WWAARC supports. They will be part of a team responsible for the daily well-being and safety of individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in a residential community home or day habilitation setting. The intern may also act as an “ambassador” at job fairs and recruitment events, when available.
Requirements:
• Must be 16-18 years of age and still in high school OR 16-17 years old and a high school graduate.
• NYS working papers are required for 16/17 year olds.
• Experience or interest in working with people with intellectual and other developmental disabilities.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• Basic computer skills.
• Successful completion of all pre-screening and training requirements.
Upon meeting certain requirements (age, graduation status), the Direct Support Intern is expected to complete all clearance requirements, mandatory training and will be required to submit a transfer request to remain employed by WWAARC.
Anticipated Shifts:
• Various shifts depending on program needs.
