About the Internship:

This is an exciting opportunity for a self-starter and team player with a passion for journalism. You will develop and refine your skills in fast-paced news reporting and writing within a dynamic environment. We’re looking for individuals who can approach stories holistically, adeptly weaving together information from the field with their own reporting to craft sharp, informative, and highly visual narratives.

Approximate Internship Dates: June 2026 through early January 2027.

What You Will Do:

• Support editorial tasks of the team, including reporting and writing articles for the ABC News website.
• Take on various tasks essential for the smooth operation of the editorial team.
• Pitch and execute daily general assignment Digital text stories, turning around content with speed and accuracy.
• Collaborate extensively with newsgathering teams, ABC News Digital’s editorial seniors, and various internal teams (photos, graphics, videos, platforms, social media) to enhance storytelling.
• Support the production of Digital stories, which may include templating notes from reporting teams or meticulously checking transcripts against audio/video tape.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

• Demonstrated text news writing experience.
• Ability to write clean, accurate copy on a deadline.
• A strong portfolio with examples of news writing.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills:

• Experience with web publishing platforms.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices for news content.
• Proficiency in AP style.

Education:

• Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, actively pursuing a journalism or English degree.

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information:

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization in the United States.
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.

Additional Information:

• Ability to maintain a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
• Fully available Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, generally from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm ET (occasional shift changes may be required based on news coverage needs).
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area.
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.

Compensation:

• The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
