Job Title: Digital Marketing Intern
Program: Summer Internship Program
Job Type: Paid, Temporary, Full-time
Compensation: $17.00 per hour
Hours: 40 hours per week
Duration: 13 weeks, beginning mid-May and ending in mid-August
Reports To: Communications Director

Summary:
The City of Ankeny is seeking a creative Digital Marketing student or recent graduate for a summer internship. This role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in content creation for social media and the city website, and to market city initiatives, programs, and events. The intern will primarily focus on developing digital marketing strategies for website and social platforms, with a special emphasis on promoting aquatics, library programs, and Otter Creek Golf Course.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist with developing digital marketing strategies, mainly for website and social platforms.
• Produce content for website and social media channels, including video, photography, graphics, and text.
• Implement marketing campaigns across multiple platforms.
• Analyze engagement metrics and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Assist and support other members of the City’s communications team with e-newsletters, events, meetings, website maintenance, and other tasks.
• Assist with event photography and videography.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Skills:
• Currently pursuing a Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related degree, or a recent graduate in these fields.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite or comparable programs for creating graphics and videos.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified time frames.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities or tasks.
• Ability to brainstorm creative ideas in a small group setting.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Shall possess and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license.

Preferred Skills:
• Copywriting and editing skills are a plus.

Work Environment:
• Works primarily in an office environment.
