Job Description
This role is an internship opportunity focused on digital humanities and promoting Gale’s resources.
What You’ll Do Here (Key Responsibilities):
• Conduct Research Project: You will undertake a research project utilizing the Gale Digital Scholar Lab, which is Cengage Group’s digital humanities tool. This project will be submitted to the Gale Research Showcase, where it will undergo a peer review process and will later serve as an exemplary assignment to inspire future users of the lab.
• Develop Engaging Content: You will be responsible for creating captivating content to be featured on Gale’s blog and social media channels. This content will highlight and showcase the rich and fascinating information available within Gale’s archives.
• Coordinate On-Campus Event: You will plan, organize, and facilitate an event on a college campus. The primary goal of this event will be to educate both students and faculty about the valuable resources and tools provided by Gale.
• Attend Learning Sessions: You will participate in weekly virtual “lunch and learn” sessions. These sessions are designed to help you acquire new skills relevant to your internship activities and provide opportunities to network with professionals from various departments within the company.
• Participate in Virtual Check-ins: You will engage in regular virtual check-ins, where you will receive formal feedback regarding your performance and progress throughout the internship.
Skills You Will Need Here (Qualifications):
• Academic Background: You must currently be majoring in an Arts & Humanities or Social Science subject area.
• Core Qualities: Possess a strong sense of creativity, demonstrate leadership qualities, and exhibit effective time management skills.
• Passion: Have a genuine passion for history and the humanities.
• Prior Experience (Preferred but Not Required): While prior experience using Gale resources is a plus, it is not a mandatory requirement for this role, as comprehensive training will be provided.
Compensation:
The base pay range for this position is $15.00 – $16.00 USD. Individual base pay within this range will vary based on factors such as work schedule, qualifications, experience, internal equity, and geographic location.
