About The Role & Program:

This is an exciting Internship opportunity within the ABC News Digital team, the 24/7 platform dedicated to delivering breaking news, features, and in-depth reporting. The award-winning editorial team collaborates closely with ABC News’ newsgathering division and other platforms to produce original, compelling stories from America’s most-trusted news source.

The approximate dates for this internship are June 2026 through early January 2027.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

We are seeking a self-starter and team player with demonstrable experience in reporting and writing news articles on deadline. The ideal candidate should possess a willingness to further develop these skills and be adept at approaching stories holistically, integrating information from field reporting and their own research to craft stories that are sharp, informative, and highly visual.

What You Will Do (Responsibilities):

• Provide comprehensive editorial support, including reporting and writing articles for the ABC News website.
• Execute tasks vital for the smooth operation of the editorial team.
• Actively pitch and execute daily general assignment Digital text stories, ensuring rapid and accurate turnaround.
• Engage in collaborative efforts with newsgathering, ABC News Digital’s editorial seniors, and various supporting teams (e.g., photos, graphics, videos, platforms, and social teams).
• Support the production of Digital stories, which may include templating notes from reporting teams or checking transcripts against tape for accuracy.

Required Qualifications And Skills:

• Proven text news writing experience.
• Exceptional ability to write clean copy on a deadline.
• A portfolio with examples of news writing is mandatory.

Preferred Qualification And Skills:

• Experience with web publishing.
• Familiarity with SEO best practices.
• Proficiency in AP style.

Education:

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a journalism/English degree.

Eligibility Requirements & Internship Information:

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet ALL of the below requirements:

• Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree, taking at least one class at the time of application posting OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Possess unrestricted work authorization.
• Have not completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or Disney College Program.

Additional Information:

• Ability to maintain a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
• The approximate internship dates are June 2026 through early January 2027.
• Must be fully available Monday through Friday, 40 hours a week, generally from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm ET (with occasional shift changes as news coverage requires).
• Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program in the New York, New York area.
• Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.

Compensation:

The pay rate for this role in New York is $22.50 per hour.
