About the Internship
Sanford Health is seeking a Dietitian- Inpatient- Dialysis to join its team in Jamestown, North Dakota. This full-time position is responsible for providing diet interventions, medical nutrition therapy, nutrition care, and preventive counseling to individuals with End Stage Renal Disease.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in dietetics or food and nutrition through an Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredited program. Clinical nutrition experience through an approved coordinated undergraduate program or successful completion of a post-graduate internship is also required. Additionally, candidates must currently hold a Registered Dietitian (RD) license within the applicable state(s) and be registered by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
Key Responsibilities
• Provide medical nutrition therapy services and monitor nutritional care of patients of all adult ages
• Determine nutritional status through nutritional assessment
• Develop and implement individualized care plans
• Provide education and counseling for disease and nutrition risk management
• Evaluate outcomes of medical nutrition therapy interventions
• Optimize self-management education and skills for clients/patients/residents with chronic conditions
• Recognize, evaluate, and provide for nutritional needs based on cultural, ethnic, and religious beliefs
• Work on nutrition care protocols and act as a leader for the health care team in the implementation of nutrition therapies
• Educate on diet according to disease state, medical condition, and health risk
• Incorporate new trends and techniques to design care plans and update educational materials
• Assist in tailoring clinical education materials for use with clients/patients/residents, families, and caregivers
• Perform quality control and maintain high standards for infection control mechanisms
• Be aware of individual insurance coverage and reimbursement circumstances
• Participate in clinical performance improvement activities, including research
