Credit Associate | BPI

The Tone:
This is a full-time role at BPI, located at its Head Office in Makati. BPI, also known as the Bank of the Philippine Islands, provides comprehensive financial services to its clients. This position is primarily focused on the critical task of evaluating and rendering credit decisions for retail loan applications. The Credit Associate ensures that all lending activities adhere strictly to the Bank’s established credit guidelines and policies, contributing directly to the institution’s financial stability and integrity.

• Team: Part of the Retail Credit department, with direct supervision responsibilities over Credit Staff, and reporting to a Unit Head.
• Mission: Evaluate and render accurate credit decisions for retail loan applications within committed turn-around times, ensuring adherence to the Bank’s credit guidelines and policies.
• Tech Stack: Microsoft Office applications

What You’ll Actually Do
• Application Processing: Conduct comprehensive screening, income verification, and residence verification for retail loan applications, meticulously encoding all gathered information, especially for system-approved applications or those under specific lending programs.
• Credit Assessment: Thoroughly analyze, review, and evaluate loan proposals that are recommended by the credit staff to accurately determine the creditworthiness of potential loan applicants.
• Decision Making: Render informed credit decisions on retail loan applications within the scope of delegated authority, and strategically recommend proposals to higher-level authorities when the decision falls beyond personal limits.
• Team Supervision: Oversee and guide the performance of Credit Staff under direct supervision, ensuring that all individual and team goals are consistently met to maintain high operational standards.
• Sales Support: Actively handle sales inquiries and address concerns from the sales team, escalating complex issues to the Unit Head when necessary to provide robust support for achieving the overall business targets.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Possess at least a Bachelor’s/College Degree in a relevant field such as Business Studies/Administration/Management, Finance, Accountancy, or Banking, or an equivalent qualification. This position is open to entry-level candidates, and fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.
• Experience: Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of credit and lending principles, bank operations, credit policies, and risk management practices. Familiarity with corporate banking products and services, as well as regulatory standards and compliance guidelines, is also required.
• Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Strong analytical skills for evaluating financial data and applicant profiles, coupled with sound decision-making abilities. Effective communication skills for handling inquiries and supervision.
