Job Description: Design Operations Specialist (W2 Engagement)

This is a W2 engagement, and the compensation rate is structured to reflect this employment type.

Preferred Locations: NYC, San Jose, CA, Austin, TX, Chicago, IL

In this pivotal role, you will serve as the crucial support system for our Design Operations (DesignOps) initiatives.
Working in close collaboration with the Director of XD Operations, you will be instrumental in executing programs
designed to empower our talented designers and significantly elevate the impact and visibility of design within the organization.
Your work will directly contribute to fostering a more efficient, collaborative, and impactful design ecosystem.

Responsibilities

  • Program Execution:

    • Coordinate and manage the end-to-end implementation of various DesignOps programs across key areas, including learning & development, internal events & workshops, and comprehensive design team reporting.
    • Develop, maintain, and organize comprehensive program documentation and essential resources, ensuring accessibility and clarity for all stakeholders.
    • Proactively track program progress against established timelines and key performance indicators, meticulously measuring success to inform future initiatives.
  • Learning & Development:

    • Conduct thorough research to identify and recommend valuable training opportunities for designers, encompassing online courses, specialized workshops, industry conferences, and other relevant professional development avenues.
    • Efficiently manage the registration process and handle all logistical aspects for design-related training programs, ensuring a seamless experience for participants.
  • Events & Community:

    • Plan, organize, and flawlessly manage internal design events and workshops, from concept to execution, ensuring a highly engaging and enriching experience for all attendees.
    • Actively foster a vibrant and collaborative design community within the organization by spearheading networking opportunities, facilitating knowledge-sharing initiatives, and promoting cross-functional engagement.
  • Reporting & Analytics:

    • Assist in the development and ongoing maintenance of standardized reporting templates and intuitive dashboards designed to track key design metrics and team performance.
    • Generate insightful reports on design team activity, project progress, resource utilization, and critically, the measurable impact of design contributions on broader business objectives.

Qualifications

  • 2-4 years of experience in design, project management, or a closely related operational field.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational acumen and exceptional time management skills, with a proven ability to juggle multiple priorities effectively.
  • Outstanding communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport and working effectively with diverse teams.
  • Proficiency in utilizing various project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Trello) and a comfort level with data analysis to draw actionable insights.
  • A genuine passion for design and a strong desire to contribute to and support a high-performing, innovative design team.
  • Solid understanding and knowledge of Design Operations (DesignOps) practices and methodologies.

Bonus Points For

  • Proven experience managing event logistics, from planning to on-site execution.
  • Hands-on experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Google Data Studio).
  • Experience with visual storytelling and creating compelling presentations or narratives.
