Job Description:
Design Intern or Co-op
Pensa is seeking talented Industrial Design students or recent grads to join their team for a full-time internship. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a collaborative and creative design studio environment.
Responsibilities:
• Learn and Apply: Gain practical experience in design practices and concept development through real-world projects. You’ll participate in both internal and client-based projects, mentored by senior staff.
• Contribute to the Process: Collaborate in qualitative fieldwork, brainstorming sessions, and ideation phases.
• Prototype and Build: Create prototypes and mockups of your concepts using rapid prototyping and/or traditional fabrication methods.
• Develop Concepts: Assist with concept refinement, 3D CAD development, and presentation creation.
• Voice your Ideas: Participate in design reviews and decision-making processes, articulating your design vision.
• Ownership and Growth: Take ownership of your projects, fostering your individual growth and contribution.
Requirements:
• Pursuing a degree in Industrial Design with at least 3 years of study completed or a recent graduate.
• Demonstrated excellence in conceptualization and sketching skills.
• World-class ability in form-giving.
• Hands-on approach with comfort prototyping and working in a workshop setting.
• Strong storytelling abilities to effectively communicate design visions to colleagues and clients.
• Experience in conducting, executing, and interpreting generative research.
• Expert-level proficiency in 2D illustration software (Adobe Creative Suite) and 3D CAD software (Rhino & Solidworks preferred).
• Understanding of materials, plastic and metal production processes, quality control, and manufacturing techniques.
