Job Description: Design Intern

This is an unpaid, remote internship based in the US, running from June 11 to October 10, 2025, for up to 15 hours per week. As a design intern, you will play a vital role in enhancing the visual and interactive experience of Worldreader’s children’s digital library. Your responsibilities will include:

Book Cover Updates: Updating children’s book covers to meet application specifications, ensuring consistent sizing and design elements across the platform.
Micro-animations & Collateral for BookSmart: Creating Lottie animations of the reading buddy, Sprouty, for the BookSmart UI. This also involves designing Sprouty’s wardrobe and other related assets.
Audiobook Presentation for YouTube: Developing a visually appealing and accessible template or video format for audiobooks to be published on YouTube, aligning with Worldreader’s brand.
Inclusive & Engaging Design: Contributing to design solutions that are accessible, joyful, and appealing to young readers and their caregivers, prioritizing clarity and inclusivity.

The internship culminates in a final report and/or presentation to Worldreader staff.

Desired Qualifications:

• Currently enrolled in a US-based bachelor’s or master’s degree program (Graphic Design, Digital Media, or a related field preferred).
• Access to your own computer, reliable internet connection, and workspace.
• Proficiency in design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator), Canva, Figma, or similar software.
• Familiarity with animation tools/platforms like LottieFiles.
• Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for layout, color, and typography.
• Excellent research, communication, and presentation skills.
• Ability to design with young children and families in mind, emphasizing clarity, joy, and accessibility.
• Capacity to work effectively remotely and collaboratively.
• Interest in diverse and inclusive design practices.
Experience with multilingual content (Spanish, Arabic, or Hindi) is a plus but not required.
• Commitment to the project timeframe.
