Job Description: Design Engineer (OXO, Hydro Flask, and Osprey)

This role is a key part of the engineering team, focusing on the development of new products for the OXO, Hydro Flask, and Osprey brands. The position requires a highly creative individual who can lead the design-engineering segment of projects within a design team.

Responsibilities:

Lead design-engineering efforts: Manage the design engineering aspects of projects, working collaboratively within the design team.
Collaborate with industrial designers: Work closely with industrial designers throughout the entire product development lifecycle.
Develop product architecture: Create mechanical design solutions for product architecture.
Enhance product performance and user experience: Design solutions that improve product functionality and user interaction.
Ensure manufacturability and budget adherence: Engineer solutions that are manufacturable and meet project budget constraints while integrating seamlessly with the industrial design.
Create CAD models and assemblies: Generate CAD models and assemblies to visualize and evaluate product construction.
Conduct product simulations: Utilize prototyping, model-building, and proof-of-concept mock-ups to simulate product use cases.
Present design status and test results: Share and present test results and design status updates to the design team and management, analyzing performance, timelines, and risks.
Meet project requirements: Design within project briefs, adhering to schedules, goals, manufacturing specifications, and cost targets.
Provide engineering support: Offer engineering support for new products from initial concept through pilot and first production.
Understand and implement manufacturing methods: Gain a thorough understanding of and implement appropriate manufacturing methods (molding, fabrication, etc.) for each product.
Partner with manufacturing partners: Collaborate with manufacturing partners to optimize assembly and manufacturing processes, ensuring the final product meets design, functional, and visual criteria.
Resolve manufacturing issues: Work with project engineers to address and resolve any manufacturing issues.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Industrial Design.
• 2+ years of relevant experience (internship and/or work experience).
• Portfolio (PDF or website) showcasing design work.
• Experience in new product design and engineering.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software.
• Excellent project management, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Practical hands-on workshop skills (hand tools, power tools, saws, drill presses, grinders, etc.).
• Legal authorization to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Consultancy background.
• Experience in the consumer goods industry.
• Experience with Asian manufacturing.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks.
• Experience with prototyping and 3D printing.
• Experience with product manufacturing, particularly plastics and injection molded parts.

Location and Schedule: New York, NY; Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 days remote).
