Job Description:
Wor-Wic Community College is seeking a full-time Department Head to supervise, manage, and teach in one of two credit programs within the Mathematics and Science Department. This role encompasses both administrative and instructional responsibilities.
Essential Duties:
• Managing daily department operations.
• Supervising department staff.
• Creating and managing department budgets.
• Hiring department faculty.
• Observing and evaluating faculty performance.
• Writing proposals.
• Managing the annual and five-year assessment processes.
• Serving on and/or leading committees.
• Providing academic and professional leadership for the department.
• Developing the curriculum.
• Scheduling classes and assigning faculty.
• Assessing academic quality.
• Serving as credit faculty, teaching up to 36 credits per fiscal year (depending on administrative release time).
Minimum Requirements:
• Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• Ability to teach the required course load within departmental disciplines.
• Three years of full-time teaching experience or the equivalent.
• Strong written and oral communication, teaching, budget management, and computer skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Doctoral degree.
• Supervisory and/or proven administrative experience.
Compensation and Benefits:
• Full-time position with excellent fringe benefits.
• Typically scheduled Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (may vary based on teaching load assignment).
• Part of the WWCCFA bargaining unit represented by the MSEA.
• Salary dependent on faculty rank (based on education, experience, and qualifications):
• Instructor: $63,000 to $77,100
• Assistant Professor: $72,400 to $88,700
• Associate Professor: $83,300 to $102,150
