Job Description:

This role focuses on creating an exceptional customer experience through outstanding service and maintaining a safe and clean environment to encourage repeat business. You’ll assist the department manager in achieving sales and profit goals and monitor quality assurance standards. Key responsibilities include:

Customer Service: Embrace the Customer 1st strategy, deliver excellent service, acknowledge, assist, and appreciate customers.
Product Knowledge: Gain and maintain knowledge of products, answer questions, and make suggestions.
Merchandising: Prepare, package, label, and inventory merchandise; inspect products for quality and freshness; label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
Communication: Inform customers of specials, recommend items, and answer questions about products.
Department Maintenance: Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintain temperature logs, and report discrepancies to the department manager.
Safety: Reinforce safety programs, identify unsafe conditions, report accidents, and report safety risks or issues, and illegal activity, including: robbery, theft or fraud to store management.
Teamwork: Work cooperatively in a high-paced environment, manage conflict reasonably, and act with honesty and integrity.
Support: Provide support and assistance through direct interaction with minors, individuals with special needs, and/or older adults.
Additional Duties: Help with preparing produce platters/trays. Stay current with present, future, seasonal and special ads. Practice preventive maintenance by properly inspecting equipment and notify appropriate department or store manager of any items in need of repair.

This role requires effective communication skills, basic math knowledge, and a current food handler’s permit (obtained after employment). The position requires the ability to handle stressful situations, follow directions, and seek assistance when necessary.
