Samsung Ads is a rapidly growing, advanced advertising technology company committed to enabling brands to connect with Samsung TV audiences. By leveraging the industry’s most comprehensive data, we are building the world’s smartest advertising platform. As part of an international organization, we tackle complex, large-scale projects with global stakeholders and teams.

We pride ourselves on our world-class organization, grounded in an entrepreneurial and collaborative spirit. Working at Samsung Ads offers an exceptional environment to accelerate your growth, achieve significant milestones, and develop your skills. We thrive on problem-solving, breaking new ground, and enjoying every step of the journey.

About the Team & Internship

Machine learning is at the core of the advertising industry, and this is no exception at Samsung Ads. Our Platform Intelligence (PI) team is at the forefront, actively exploring the latest deep learning and generative AI techniques to significantly improve our existing systems and products, and to create exciting new revenue streams.

Our mission is to uphold Samsung’s leadership in large-scale machine learning products, fostering collaboration between industry and academia. As a Deep Learning / Generative AI Intern, you will gain access to unique Samsung proprietary data to develop and deploy a wide spectrum of large-scale machine learning products with real-world impact.

This internship focuses on exploring the potential of GenAI and Agentic AI for advanced feature engineering. You will research and develop AI-driven solutions that automatically extract and synthesize high-dimensional embedding features from multi-source datasets. You will experiment with novel vector space refinement approaches and feature engineering techniques to significantly enhance predictive model accuracy, directly improving key KPIs (e.g., i2i, ROAS, CPA) for our performance solutions.

You will be supported by a talented engineering team and top-notch researchers in a unique learning culture and creative work atmosphere. Publications and patents are expected outcomes of this internship, highlighting your contributions to cutting-edge research and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

As a Deep Learning / GenAI Intern, you will:

  • Research and develop GenAI and Agentic AI solutions that automatically extract and synthesize high-dimensional embedding features from multi-source datasets.
  • Leverage GenAI capabilities to experiment with novel vector space refinement approaches and feature engineering techniques to significantly enhance predictive model accuracy for advertising solutions.
  • Design and develop deep learning algorithms and models for real-world product applications.
  • Collaborate closely with the machine learning engineering team to deploy new models and generate real-world impact.
  • Create quick prototypes and proof-of-concepts for future product features.
  • Design experiments, perform evaluations, and apply enhancements to our products.
  • Publish research results in top-tier venues and file patents (expected outcomes).
  • Explore and integrate cutting-edge machine learning technologies into our products.

Experience & Qualifications

Required Experience:

  • Currently pursuing a PhD in Computer Science or a relevant field.
  • Thorough understanding of state-of-the-art LLM models and Agentic AI systems.
  • Solid theoretical background in machine learning and/or data mining.
  • Hands-on experience with machine and deep learning algorithms and models.
  • Proficiency in data structures, algorithms, and machine learning libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Keras).
  • Strong programming skills with Python.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Publications in relevant top-tier venues (e.g., KDD, NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, IJCAI, ICDM, ACL).

Preferred Experience:

  • Basic knowledge of big data tools and data pipelines.

Compensation & Benefits

This position offers a competitive hourly wage between $42.00 – $61.00 per hour, based in Mountain View, CA. Additionally, Samsung provides a housing stipend of $1,800 per month for the duration of the internship program.
