Job Description:

Punahou School is seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Debate and Speech Coaches to join its team. These coaches will play a vital role in supporting students in their preparation for speech and debate tournaments. The selected candidates will provide constructive feedback on cases and speeches, and guide student captains in their leadership roles within the team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist students in developing and refining their debate cases and speeches.
• Provide constructive feedback on content, argumentation, and delivery.
• Support student captains in their leadership of the debate and speech team.
• Judge debate and speech tournaments approximately once or twice per month (schedule to be determined).
• Foster a positive and supportive team environment.

Position Details:

Work Year: 9 Months (2025-2026 School Year)
Work Hours: Mondays and Thursdays, 3:45 PM – 5:00 PM, Occasional Saturdays. Schedule may vary based on operational needs.
Stipend Amount: $1,100 per semester
Positions Available: Two Debate Coaches and One Speech Coach

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Background in speech and debate, with debate experience in Public Forum and/or Lincoln-Douglas formats preferred.
Strong communication, research, and analytical skills.
Ability to inspire and motivate students.
Commitment to fostering a positive team environment.
