Data Science Intern Job Description

This internship provides the opportunity to be a part of a collaborative team focused on generating insights and developing product features from data. As a Data Science Intern, you will be involved in various aspects of the data science lifecycle, including:

What You’ll Do

• Discovery and Requirements Gathering: Participate in understanding the needs and goals for data analysis.
• Exploratory Data Analysis: Analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and relationships.
• Data Pipeline Development: Assist in building and optimizing data and model pipelines, including data cleaning and wrangling.
• Machine Learning Model Development: Collaborate with data scientists to prototype, test, and refine machine learning models to solve real-world problems.
• Production Environment Experience: Gain practical experience using machine learning at scale in a production environment.

What You’ll Need

• Minimum Qualifications: Currently pursuing an undergraduate or higher degree in statistics, mathematics, computer science, software engineering, or a related field.
• Preferred Qualifications:
• Hands-on programming experience
• Experience using real-world data for projects, including data cleaning and preparation
• Proficiency with data science libraries like pandas, scikit-learn, caret, mlr, TensorFlow
• Experience using the command line for development tasks
• Understanding of basic machine learning techniques (classification, regression, clustering)
• Familiarity with statistical concepts (distributions, statistical testing, types of variables)
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Interest in expanding data-related skills
• Experience with source control systems like Git
