Analyst-Risk Management | American Express
The Tone:
This is a full-time role at American Express. The Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) organization is responsible for managing relationships with millions of Merchants and Partners globally, facilitating American Express acceptance, and enabling the day-to-day operations of the company’s payment network. This role is vital as the people, processes, and technology supporting this function are evolving to improve the merchant experience and economics, with a mission to deliver a best-in-class premium merchant member experience.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Data Analysis: Quickly understand data flows, identify gaps in data quality, and drive practical solutions.
• Framework Development: Build and scale data quality checks, controls, and monitoring frameworks.
• Independent Operation: Operate independently in ambiguous environments, demonstrating a strong ownership mindset.
• Stakeholder Management: Effectively manage stakeholders and clearly communicate data issues and their impact.
• Process Improvement: Champion a continuous improvement mindset with a focus on efficiency, automation, and scalability.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Graduate or Postgraduate degree in a quantitative or business field.
• Experience: 3+ years of experience in Data Quality, Data Analysis, Risk, or related domains.
• Skills: Strong analytical and logical thinking with a structured problem-solving approach; experience working with data tools (e.g., SQL, Excel, Power BI); understanding of data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness); ability to build and scale data quality checks, controls, and monitoring frameworks; knowledge of merchant processing business, authorization, and submissions processes, and how technical specifications impact the network.
• Bonus: Certifications in Data Analytics, Risk, or Process Excellence; Python or automation skills; familiarity with Merchant/Network Force.
