The Tone:
This is an internship at ByteDance, a global company that inspires creativity and enriches life with products like TikTok. The data infrastructure Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team merges software development with infrastructure operations to design, build, and manage large-scale, highly distributed systems. This role is vital for transforming diverse components into cloud-managed, scalable, and reliable elements, ensuring seamless integration and high-performing systems for one of the industry’s most extensive cloud infrastructures.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Service Lifecycle: Participate in and enhance the complete service lifecycle, from inception and design through deployment, operation, and refinement.
• Platform Development: Design and implement software platforms and monitoring frameworks to govern service-oriented architecture efficiently, automatically, and intelligently.
• Infrastructure Management: Develop and manage components of cloud-managed data infrastructure, including technologies like Kubernetes, Redis, MySQL, and Flink.
• System Scaling: Establish sustainable mechanisms for scaling systems, such as automation, to drive enhancements in reliability, efficiency, and velocity.
• Operational Support: Provide sustainable user support, manage incident responses, and conduct blameless postmortems to improve systems.
The Must-Haves
• Background: Student pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field with 2+ years of experience, or a Master’s degree.
• Experience: Programming proficiency in one of the following languages: C, C++, Java, Python, Go, or Rust.
• Skills: Knowledge of Unix/Linux system internals, networking, and distributed systems.
• Bonus: Experience in MySQL, Redis, Ngnix, Kubernetes, Docker, OpenStack, Hadoop, Spark, or Flink, coupled with strong fast learning and communication abilities.
