Senior Associate, Data Exchange Specialist | New York Life Insurance Company

The Tone:

This role is crucial for managing the complex electronic data interfaces with clients, particularly National Accounts, ensuring the high-quality data exchange that powers critical downstream services like administration, billing, and reporting. The specialist acts as a vital bridge, balancing technical expertise with consultative guidance to maintain data integrity and operational stability across interconnected systems.

What You’ll Actually Do
• Integrate and Consult: Integrate with TPAs and Ben Tech partners to support eligibility, enrollment, remittance, and billing data, while serving as a consultative partner to educate clients on data structure and its operational impact.
• Manage Implementations: Implement complex electronic interfaces based on established timelines, maintaining strict inventory control of active integrations, dependent file streams, and in-flight implementations.
• Validate and Reconcile: Manage multi-file integration environments, ensuring files are received, validated, sequenced, reconciled, and merged appropriately for accurate system ingestion and downstream processing.
• Troubleshoot and Document: Identify root causes of file discrepancies, mapping errors, or transmission issues, recommend corrective actions, and prepare documentation confirming data exchange methods, mapping logic, and audit controls.
• Partner and Lead: Partner with Production Support, IT, and external vendors to ensure successful data processing, articulate complex technical requirements, and serve as a subject matter expert providing guidance and mentorship to peers.

The Must-Haves
• Background: Senior level role. Bachelor’s Degree strongly preferred or a minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required, with a strong understanding of complex data structures, file layouts, and electronic transmission methods preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience required. Preferred experience includes working with clients, producers, TPAs, or Ben Tech partners, and managing file dependencies, merge logic, and reconciliation across multiple data sources.
• Skills: Proficient/advanced Microsoft Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Macros) required. Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences. Strong analytical, audit, interpretation, and consultative skills.
• Bonus: Proficiency in Access preferred. Experience with mainframe TSO and JCL scripting preferred.
