Job Description:
Risk Insights Media is seeking a Data Engineering Intern to join their team for a remote, 10-12 week, part-time (20-30 hours/week) unpaid internship. The intern will work on real-world projects, building and improving systems to collect, transform, and analyze data from sources like public datasets, APIs, and unstructured web content. Responsibilities include:
• Building data pipelines to extract and structure company data from public sources.
• Automating research and enrichment processes for internal datasets.
• Using Python and cloud-based tools to clean, transform, and validate incoming data.
• Debugging pipeline issues and improving reliability and speed.
• Documenting processes and sharing learnings.
Qualifications
• Familiarity with Python and common data libraries (Pandas, Requests, BeautifulSoup, SQLAlchemy, etc.).
• Some exposure to APIs, scraping, or workflow tools like Airflow.
• Detail-oriented with the ability to balance speed and accuracy.
• Clear communicator.
• Interest in startups, market data, or how investment flows shape the tech world.
Bonus points for:
• Experience working with real-world, messy datasets.
• Knowledge of relational databases or data warehousing concepts.
• Interest in building repeatable, modular tools.
• Experience with scraping, ETL, or API integration.
