Job Description: 2025 Data Engineering Internship
SAIC seeks enthusiastic, self-motivated entry-level individuals graduating in 2024 or 2025 for Data Engineering Internships. These interns will contribute to supporting the Intelligence Community (IC) mission by working with large, diverse datasets. The work involves processing and exploiting data from numerous sensors, performing analysis at various classification levels to support diverse consumers (automated/autonomous systems, warfighters, military leaders, government officials).
Responsibilities:
• Collaborating within multi-functional teams.
• Contributing to the ideation and brainstorming of innovative products and programs.
• Designing and developing data products to aid decision-making.
• Documenting and presenting findings.
• Prioritizing and organizing work to meet deadlines.
• Working in an agile environment with rapid iterations and feedback loops.
Exemplar Projects/Capstones:
Interns may work on projects such as:
• Developing and deploying next-generation UI/UX prototypes for data analysis and exploitation.
• Developing and deploying improved content management and distribution prototypes for IC products.
• Developing and deploying enhanced data visualization prototypes to improve IC analytics using cutting-edge technologies.
• Developing and deploying data operations pipelines to optimize data platform operations.
Qualifications:
• High school diploma and active pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (graduating in 2025 or 2026) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field. A strong academic record is required.
• 2 years of experience (academic and/or professional).
• Prior internship experience.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Local residency during the internship program.
• Availability to work 40 hours/week for 10 weeks (June-August 2025).
• Proficiency in working with multidisciplinary teams.
Desired Qualifications:
• Understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts.
• Understanding of fundamental natural language processing (NLP).
• Understanding of basic graph analysis.
• Familiarity with tools like spaCy, Elastic Search, Neo4j, Kibana, Kafka, OLlama, Llama.cpp, and Hugging Face.
• Prior internship or work experience.
• Experience with web application development.
• Experience with large datasets and data analytics.
• Experience with Python, Pandas, Spark, Hadoop, AWS (EMR, EC2, RDS, S3), Jupyter, Docker, SQL, R, or Git.
Program Timeline:
• October/November 2024: Interviews begin.
• December 2024: Selections finalized.
• January 2025: Onboarding commences.
• June-August 2025: Internship program runs.
